Summary:

HEAT3D addresses the development of three heat management systems in which an enhanced thermal efficiency will have a significant impact on sustainable development and circular economy: heat exchangers for concentrated solar power plants, injection moulds for the automotive sector and, related to the latter, heatsinks for electric vehicles. To this purpose, the Additive Manufacturing (AM) technology assisted by metal powder sintering and developed by Innomaq21, will be explored. Three different alloys will be used for each of the target applications: nickel-base superalloys, tool steels and copper alloys of high thermal conductivity.

Project goals:

  • Obtain new sustainable and highly efficient heat management systems through the development of powder metallurgical grades of metallic alloys and their subsequent processing by AM assisted by sintering.
  • Contribute to the sustainability of AM technology explored in HEAT3D.

Ceit's role in the project:

Ceit will participate in the development of metal powders produced by atomization, in the identification of the most suitable process parameters for each family of alloys and in the final microstructural, thermal and mechanical characterization.
