Vehicle and infrastructure dynamics

We research and develop state-of-the-art solutions with a view to analysing the dynamic behaviour of vehicles and their interaction with infrastructure, with a solid expertise in the rail sector. We use instrumentation, simulation and software development technologies to optimise the design, operation and maintenance of transport systems. Our approach is geared towards ensuring safer, more efficient and comfortable infrastructures by adapting to the specific challenges faced by any given project and customer.

Solutions

Onboard and trackside instrumentation
We undertake advanced instrumentation of vehicles and infrastructures to identify operational problems. The customised installation of sensors with a suitable acquisition system enables data to be obtained in real circulation or under different controlled conditions, in order to facilitate the analysis of dynamic behaviour. The information generated may be used to validate or adjust models that complement the results obtained.

Characterisation tests
We conduct tests under controlled laboratory conditions by characterising key components such as vehicle suspension elements or fasteners used in infrastructure, ensuring their in-service performance. We have at our disposal both commercial equipment and test machines designed by ceit for wheel-rail contact and air-spring applications.

Efficient driving
We develop connected driver advisory systems (c-das) to optimise energy consumption and improve operational efficiency. These tools integrate state-of-the-art simulation models with a view to reducing environmental impact and associated costs.

Modelling and simulation
We use advanced physical models such as MBS (multibody systems) and FEM (finite element method) to computationally simulate the dynamic behaviour of vehicles and their interaction with infrastructure, in which contact plays a major role - thus optimising designs and processes. Both tools for prediction of wear-and-tear of assets and customised monitoring systems are developed thanks to physical simulations.

Safety and comfort in accordance with standards
We analyse and design solutions with a view to improving safety and comfort in rail transport and infrastructures, ensuring compliance with international regulations and maximising user satisfaction.
