A sensor network helps prevent mechanical failures

Researchers in the Industrial Monitoring group are working on the Wildcraft project, which aims to install sensors on aircraft in order to help prevent potential mechanical failures. Data related to various parameters are gathered from the network of sensors embedded on the aircraft, and a monitoring system then analyzes the data and looks for signs of potential failure. The monitoring system will not only help with maintenance tasks and reduce maintenance costs, but it will also increase the reliability of aircraft and passenger safety.
