  • ●    The event will bring together world leaders and experts from the rail sector in Exhibition Hall 5 at IFEMA (Madrid) from 30th November to 1st December.
  • ●    The Ceit technology centre will have its own space (Stand 71) where it will showcase its solutions for the sector and give a talk on infrastructure maintenance.
  • ●    Over the two days, more than 4,000 visitors are expected to participate in an event that will host around 140 exhibitors and 220 speakers from rail infrastructure and network operators from all over the world.

Last December, the European Parliament designated 2021 as the European Year of Rail due to the integrative role of this mode of transport on the continent and its contributions in terms of safety and environmental sustainability. However, for railways to be consolidated as a modern, efficient, reliable and profitable mode of transport, the world’s rail industry faces several challenges, such as digitalisation and the maintenance of rail infrastructures.

To address these and other questions, top leaders and experts from the world’s rail sector, such as CAF, Siemens, Ingeteam or Alstom, among others, will meet from Tuesday, 30th November to Wednesday 1st December at the latest edition of the international Rail Live! Fair, which will be held in Hall 5 at IFEMA in Madrid. The exhibition area will showcase the entire spectrum of innovations in the sector: from civil engineering or construction to innovation in rails or rolling stock.

In this way, the event will act as a meeting point for the key stakeholders in the international rail sector (infrastructure managers, operators, OEMs, maintenance service providers, etc.).
Ceit, technological ally for rail companies

Ceit Technology Centre, member of the Basque Research and Technology Alliance (BRTA), has spent more than 35 years working with the sector’s leading companies and bodies and will feature prominently at the event with its own stand alongside the start-up, MainRail. This start-up, which is a spin-off from the centre, is devoted to providing IT-based solutions to help the sector optimise its infrastructure maintenance operations.

From its space on Booth 71, the technology centre will showcase all of the solutions it offers companies from the sector in terms of energy optimisation, rail dynamics, smart maintenance, materials and processes, Big Data, positioning and navigation, among other technologies.

The Director of the centre’s rail group, Unai Alvarado, and Jorge Rodríguez, CEO of MainRail, will present the talk on “Infrastructure maintenance digitalisation: from low cost monitoring to predictive digital twins”, focusing on the digitalisation of the maintenance of infrastructures and addressing different questions, such as low cost monitoring or the use of twin towers, as well as presenting the MainRail success story.

The talk will be held on Tuesday, 30th November at 12.15pm.

The transport of the future fair

The 2021 edition of Rail Live! will revolve around three major themes: sustainability, the liberalisation of the railway market and the digitalisation of the sector. Over the two days of the fair, more than 140 exhibitors and 220 speakers from rail infrastructure and network operators, private companies and associations from all over the world will showcase their solutions to transform and digitalise the sector’s entire value chain.

According to the organisers, more than 4,000 people are expected to attend the event to discover first-hand the latest tendencies in rolling stock, smart maintenance systems or data analysis.

The fair is organised by the British company Terrapinn Holdings Ltd in collaboration with the Spanish Rail Association (Mafex). It also includes the collaboration of Adif, Renfe, the Spanish Railway Foundation (FFE), the Spanish Railway Technological Platform (PTFE), ICEX – España Exportación e Inversiones, the Community of Madrid, Madrid City Council and Metro de Madrid.
