Digitalisation of logistics processes in large infrastructures

24 | 05 | 2023

The TRAZASTOCK project in which the Ceit Technology Centre has participated and which aims to transform and digitise logistics processes in large infrastructures has been completed.

The project allows the control of flows and the complete traceability of vehicles, goods and stored stock, with the aim of optimising internal management and decision-making.

The logistics strategy of large infrastructures or those entities with large areas of activity, large storage areas and high quantities of materials, as well as high flows of people and vehicles circulating through their facilities, is being transformed through the digitisation of processes. The main challenge is the correct definition of these processes themselves, their scope and the interconnections they may have with other systems, as well as their supervision in order to facilitate decision-making.

Last March, the TRAZASTOCK project was completed, an integral solution that transforms and digitalises the logistics processes of large infrastructures, thus enabling the control of flows and complete traceability of vehicles, goods and stored stock, with the aim of optimising internal management and improving decision-making.

Identification of critical points and improvement of processes

Thanks to the implementation of a network of sensors and IoT devices, the platform collects data that are analysed and processed by an Artificial Intelligence layer, resulting in real-time information that allows port authorities, large raw material warehouses and logistics companies to identify critical points and improve their processes and systems.

The project, led by Teknei Information Technology S.L.U., has counted with the participation of Estibadora Algeposa S.A., Eurohelp Consulting S.L., Irontec, Ondoan, Producción de Fertilizantes S.A.U., RailSider, Sidenor and Siderex, as well as the agents of the Basque Science, Technology and Innovation Network, Ceit, Sidenor I+D, Tecnalia and Vicomtech.

Improving performance, efficiency and safety

The management platform offers decision-making support mechanisms for all the agents involved, from which successful results have been obtained. On the one hand, it makes it possible to assess the environmental sustainability of logistics operations and quantify the effect they have on environmental quality in order to take corrective measures, and on the other hand, it minimises losses and increases confidence in the acquisition of the product thanks to the identification and registration of all its movements and manipulations. It also integrates with the operator's other systems, thus providing real-time information and services that improve its performance, efficiency and safety.
