We collaborate with the car industry by providing advanced technological expertise with a view to optimising processes, improving products and making advances towards more safer, more efficient and sustainable mobility.  We develop solutions applicable to the vehicle’s lifespan and its production through our capacities in terms of materials, manufacturing processes, digitalisation and artificial intelligence.

Advanced materials

We develop and characterise special steels, hard metals, magnetic materials and non-ferrous alloys for structural, magnetic and functional applications in the car industry. These materials are designed to offer high mechanical resistance, thermal stability and specific mechanical properties, thus contributing to the performance of critical components such as power trains, braking systems and electric drives.

Steel forming

We optimise metal manufacturing processes such as forging, lamination and pressing via physical modelling and advanced computational simulation. This enables faults to be predicted, parameters adjusted, and the end quality of parts improved. Additionally, we develop zero-defect production methodologies to reduce waste, increase reliability and improve efficiency on production lines.

Design and mechanical behaviour

We apply tools for design and computational analysis with a view to designing optimum mechanical systems, taking into account phenomena such as vibrations, thermo-mechanics, tribology and fatigue. We assess the mechanical reliability of critical components via tests and simulation, thus contributing to a lengthening of their lifespan and a reduction in faults during operation.

Additive manufacturing and powder metallurgy

We research into additive manufacturing technologies such as binder jetting and L-DED, and powder metallurgy processes such as pressing and sintering, which are geared towards the manufacturing of complex, light and customised components. These technologies enable weight to be reduced, functions integrated, and parts that are difficult to produce using conventional methods manufactured.

Precision laser manufacturing

We develop ultrashort laser solutions for functional texturing, injection mould machining and decorative finishes on metal, glass and plastics. These technologies enable the interaction of materials to be optimised with their environment (reflectance, adherence, traction) and aesthetic or functional value to be added to surfaces.

Smart factory

We contribute towards the digital transformation of car plants via collaborative robotics systems, real-time monitoring, smart operator assistance, indoor positioning and automated quality control. By integrating artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and digital twins, we create more efficient, connected and secure production environments.

Waste

We develop solutions for valuation of waste and by-products generated during industrial processes, using physicochemical technologies that enable metals and critical raw materials to be recovered, thus contributing towards sustainability and circularity in the car industry.

Vehicle dynamics and infrastructure

We study the dynamic behaviour of vehicles via monitoring, multibody simulation and specific tests. We develop tools for characterising the vehicle-infrastructure interaction, improving comfort and safety and optimising driving from the design phase.

Electrification of transport

We design high torque density electric motors and power converters with advanced semi-conductors, thus optimising efficiency and thermal integration. These solutions enable advances to be made in the electrification of platforms and the vehicle’s energy management improved.

Digitalisation of transport

We develop connected, cooperative systems for more secure and automated mobility. We apply artificial intelligence to traffic control, fault production and energy optimisation. Our technologies include on-board monitoring, precise localisation (UWB, GNSS) and cybersecure environments for vehicles and infrastructures.
