CEIT presents wide experience in the design of power electronic systems. It comprises mainly two domains, the design of customized converters and the design of smart grid control systems. The following points describe their main features:

  • Topologies:

    AC-DC-AC: Bidirectional systems.

    Direct AC-AC: Matrix converters.

    Dc-Dc: Hard and Soft switching strategies oriented to high frequency converters.

    Power converters oriented to control levitation systems.

  • Controls Strategies:

    Development of new modulation and commutation strategies in order to reduce losses.

    Strategies oriented to control levitation systems.

  • Thermal management: the group has experience with "finite element" development tools like Flux, Solid Works and Fluent.

Smart Grid Control

  • General electronic skills:

    Development of control boards based on DSPs and hibrid systems (DSPs and FPGAs).

    Design of multi-port boards to acquire A/D signals.

    Broad experience using Pspice and Orcad software.

  • Controls Strategies:

    Development, simulation and implementation of convencional and advanced general purpose control strategies: PID, feedback linearization, backstepping, sliding mode control...

    Design of strategies for the management of electrical networks: Distributed generation and loads control.

    Industrial communication strategies oriented to energy management.

  • Thermal management: the group has experience with "finite element" development tools like Flux, Solid Works and Fluent.
