FABRICARE

Collaborative, Safe and Smart Manufacturing via Advanced Interfaces, Robotics and Digital Twins

Summary

FABRICARE is an initiative geared towards research and development of technologies for smart manufacture in collaborative environments. The project seeks to improve manufacturing processes via collaborative mobile robotics, reliable perception systems and integration in digital twin platforms. Additionally, advanced interfaces are developed to facilitate interaction between humans and machines, thus boosting safe and efficient collaboration.

Objectives

The general aim of FABRICARE is to improve the qualification of research groups among the five participant centres by creating know-how of excellence on both a national and international level. This will impact on the Spanish industrial fabric via public-private collaboration, and to do so, the project plans to:

  • Make advances in smart manufacturing technologies in collaborative environments: digital twins, human-machine interfaces, collaborative robotics and mobile robotics, including interoperability and operative safety.
  • Deal with research challenges with different levels of technological maturity in order to maximise industrial impact.
  • Take advantage of participant synergies in order to transform them into strategic partners from many different sectors: aeronautics, food, machinery, energy, telecommunications and large scientific facilities.
  • Boost training of excellence and attract talent in participant centres.
  • Maximise the dissemination of results to the scientific community and business sector via transfer strategies, industrial protection and collaborative work.

Ceit’s role

Ceit is coordinating and providing its expertise in developing digital twins for simulation, haptic interfaces, advanced controllers for collaborative manipulators, environment perceptions sensors, and localisation of mobile robots by merging optical and radiofrequency techniques.
