The program runs from 7-14 February to coincide with International Day of Women and Girls in Science
Ceit, Tecnun and a handful of local research centers—CIC nanoGUNE, the Materials Physics Center (CFM CSIC-UPV/EHU), CIC biomaGUNE, Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC), Biodonostia, POLYMAT and Elhuyar—are collaborating on a program of events to mark the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, which falls on February 11. The week-long celebration in San Sebastián of the Emakumeak Zientzian (Women in Science) initiative will run from 7-14 February. The program includes workshops, public lectures, a treasure hunt and tours, among other activities. The goal of the initiative is to make women’s contributions to science more visible, shift away from the male roles typically attributed to scientific and technical activities, and spur more girls into choosing careers in science. Emakumeak Zientzian 2020 is supported by the Gipuzkoa Provincial Council, Fomento San Sebastián, Donostia Kultura, the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).
