PhD thesis in electric drives for aircraft applications

The main objective of the PhD is to investigate solutions for the scientific and technical challenges regarding the use of high voltage high power electric drives at high altitude conditions. Research into:

  • The implications of high voltage (HV) and altitude in the reliability and safety of actual systems and its technical solution

  • New HTS (High Temperature Superconductors) based electric drives for these conditions.

The research will be conducted within an H2020 project.


Master Degree in: Industrial Engineering or Industrial Electronics and Control Engineering

Language: English/Spanish

Desirable: Matlab / Ansys Maxwell / Altair Flux / Ansys Fluent / Motor-CAD


One-year contract with annual renewals for 3 more years

Salary: Commensurate with candidate profile and position type 

Start date: 04/01/2021

Winter hours:  7.75 hours per day

Summer hours (July and August): 6 hours per day (morning only)

23 days + Christmas holiday (24 Dec–2 Jan)
