Ceit participates once again in Emakumeak Zientzian to promote egalitarian science and technology.

18 | 01 | 2024

Ceit, together with thirty-one other Basque entities, is jointly organising an extensive programme for the 8th edition of Emakumeak Zientzian, whose main objective is to highlight the importance of joint responsibility between men and women in order to promote egalitarian science and technology through different activities.

The Ceit technology centre joins forces with thirty-one other Basque entities around the Emakumeak Zientzian project, thus ratifying its commitment to the objectives of the initiative: to make the activity of women in science visible, to break with the typically male roles attributed to scientific-technical activities and to promote the choice of scientific careers among girls and teenagers. With these objectives in mind, the organisations are joining forces to organise a programme of activities for the International Day of Women and Girls in Science, which is celebrated every year on 11 February.

From 8 to 16 February

The Emakuameak Zientzian 2024 programme will be concentrated in the week of 8 to 16 February, and will include more than 60 activities covering different fields of research thanks to the union of the organising centres. "We would like to make a special appeal and invite everyone, regardless of their gender, identity, origin, profession or age, to take part in the activities", say the organisers of Emakumeak Zientzian.

Activities for all ages

The inauguration of this annual initiative will be held on 8 February in Donostia, where tribute will be paid to all the women scientists and technologists who carry out their work in the organisations and research centres involved in the initiative.

From that day onwards, there will be workshops, round tables and visits to the centres with the aim of presenting real models that will serve as a reference for future generations and that the message "science does belong to girls" will reach as many people as possible.

Playing at being engineers

As in previous years, Ceit is organising, together with Tecnun - School of Engineering, the workshop "Playing at being engineers", scheduled for Friday 16 February at 17:30 at the Ibaeta facilities. The workshop is aimed at young people in the 4th year of secondary school and high school so that they can learn about the development processes of a creative product and gain visibility of the production process. To this end, all the areas of engineering work are simulated, from the design of prototypes to the manufacture of parts, including assembly and distribution. In addition, Tecnun and Ceit will be open for visits, and the eRAcing Automotive Club and the electric vehicle manufactured entirely by Tecnun engineering students will be presented.

The full programme of activities is available on the website www.emakumeakzientzian.eus, and registration for the different activities is now open.
