CEIT will participate in InnoTrans 2026, the leading international railway industry trade fair, to be held in Berlin, Germany, from 22 to 25 September. From Hall 24, Stand 330, the technology centre will showcase a selection of demonstrators developed to address some of the railway industry's key challenges: improving infrastructure safety and reliability, optimising operations, and advancing more efficient and sustainable maintenance practices.
CEIT's proposal for this edition is structured around three major technological areas: intelligent infrastructure digitalisation, railway operations automation, and advanced maintenance and sustainable manufacturing. These developments reflect the centre's applied research work carried out in collaboration with companies and organisations in the sector to transform scientific knowledge into solutions with industrial applications.
Among the demonstrators on display, a system for analysing vehicle-track dynamics during turnout and crossing manoeuvres will stand out. This technology makes it possible to study the interaction between railway vehicles and infrastructure, supporting the design of solutions that enhance the safety and reliability of railway operations.
In the field of asset management, CEIT will present an intelligent monitoring solution based on advanced physical models and data analytics. The demonstrator combines infrastructure dynamic simulation, time-frequency signal processing, and sensor optimisation to improve asset supervision and support more accurate predictive maintenance strategies.
Automation and connectivity will also play a prominent role. Visitors will be able to explore a driverless operation model based on ATO (Automatic Train Operation) technologies, developed to improve the safety and efficiency of special railway vehicles, as well as a multimode communications platform capable of integrating 3G, 4G, 5G, Wi-Fi, and satellite communications technologies to ensure continuous and secure connectivity in railway environments.
The exhibition will also include a functional motor model demonstrating technologies applied to railway traction systems. This solution will showcase capabilities for analysing, monitoring, and improving the performance of critical propulsion components.
The area of advanced maintenance will be represented by two developments aimed at extending the service life of railway assets. On the one hand, Rail Repairado will demonstrate the potential of laser metal deposition additive manufacturing for repairing and restoring worn rails. On the other hand, the Smart NDT & Structural Health Monitoring solution will combine non-destructive testing techniques, in-service monitoring, and artificial intelligence to predictively assess the structural and metallurgical condition of railway components.
Through this participation, CEIT reinforces its commitment to knowledge transfer within the railway sector and its collaboration with manufacturers, operators, and infrastructure managers to address the challenges of increasingly safe, efficient, and sustainable mobility.
