MIRAGED

Strategic Positioning in Virtual Models and Digital Twins for Industry 4.0

Summary

The aim of MIRAGED is to reinforce the capacities of participant technology centres in the modelling, simulation and prediction of machine behaviour and manufacturing processes, via the development of virtual models and digital twins that will enable such processes to be designed and optimised. To do this, the job network is based on three technical lines of activity: the creation of virtual factories to simulate processes such as: hot forming, welding, machining, grinding, induction hardening and non-destructive inspection; the development of models to predict faults while in service, crack propagation, remaining lifespan and dynamic behaviour; and lastly, the integration of all these models into complete digital twins..

Objective

Develop multidisciplinary tools and methodologies that will enable the technology offered by Ceit to be transformed into the area of hot forming and thermal treatment, adopting an approach based on Industry 4.0 and on the integration of disruptive technologies that go beyond incremental improvements.

Ceit’s role

MIRAGED is a strategic project for Ceit, whereby it pursues the goal of developing multidisciplinary tools and methodologies with a view to favouring a radical improvement in what is offered by the centre to the business fabric within the area of hot forming and thermal treatment processes, from the perspective of Industry 4.0. This improvement cannot be made based on developments of an incremental nature, but rather, that a change of paradigm is needed based on the application of a combination of new technologies and their integration.
