HIPERION
Knowledge Creation and Capacities for New Space Technologies and Future Planetary Missions.

Summary
HIPERION is devised to be a strategic tool to strengthen research into space science and technology in the Basque Country, boosting the sector’s critical mass. The field of space demands solutions with stringent requirements in terms of reliability, and be light weight and resistant in extreme environments, making it a driving force in innovation with applications in sectors such as industry, energy, health and the fight against climate change.
The consortium is working in key areas such as advanced manufacturing, materials and innovative processes, composite materials, advanced coatings, control and aviation systems, and optical path technologies. Dealing with these challenges will enable European technological competitiveness to be reinforced and opportunities for technological transfer to a range of markets created.
Objective
Create knowledge and capacities in advanced space technologies with a view to dealing with the challenges facing future planetary missions, and also fostering the transfer of these solutions to other strategic sectors.
