Projects
TCRINI
Developing technologies to optimise maintenance activities.

Summary
Building on current advances in Big Data, Artificial Intelligence (AI), Digital Twins and cloud computing, the project’s overall aim is to develop technologies that optimise maintenance activities for application to the upkeep of critical assets in rail and road infrastructures. Critical assets are understood to be structures considered strategic and indispensable for the correct operation of rail traffic. ETS is part of the project transfer committee, whose purpose is to facilitate the effective transfer of knowledge and results achieved during the project in the field of infrastructure maintenance. Its functions will include evaluating results, developing implementation strategies and coordinating with stakeholders.
Objectives
The main challenges facing the project are the following:
- The need to obtain monitoring systems that provide up-to-date information on the condition of different critical assets. These systems must be capable of collecting information operationally (without interfering with normal system operation) and at reduced cost.
- The need to develop Digital Twins capable of accurately predicting the evolution of the various problems related to the maintenance of critical infrastructures.
- The need to maintain or improve current maintenance-related safety levels.
