CICERO
Intelligent Cybersecurity Countermeasures for the Network of the Future

Summary
The massive adoption of information and communication technologies is transforming our society and every sector of our economy. Although the benefits are numerous, this transformation increases associated risks, particularly cyberthreats. As organizations adopt new technologies to maintain competitiveness and efficiency, they are exposed to a greater number of vulnerabilities. For this reason, innovation in cybersecurity must advance at the same pace, ensuring the protection of critical systems and the resilience of digital environments.
Objectives
The CICERO project aims to position the participating centres as leaders in advanced cybersecurity through the development of robust systems capable of identifying and mitigating vulnerabilities in systems and networks. The approach is based on applying security technologies for signals and data, as well as network virtualization and software-defined networks.
The project seeks to promote collaboration between technology centres, drive technology transfer to industry, increase participation in international projects, and train specialised talent in cybersecurity, fostering diversity, gender equality, and the inclusion of people with disabilities in R&D activities.
Ceit’s role
Focusing on the challenges of identification, protection, detection, response, and recovery, Ceit will work on several specific objectives, such as consolidating research in industrial cybersecurity, investigating and developing knowledge related to cybersecurity in cloud environments, applying Machine Learning techniques for anomaly detection in industrial settings, and developing and integrating identity and access management systems. Additionally, the technology centre will develop a hybrid cybersecurity laboratory that will enable realistic analyses of industrial systems.
