Development of the complete workflow for producing and using a novel nanomodified Ti-based alloy for additive manufacturing in special applications
The aim is to develop a complete workflow (from powder production to demo) for manufacturing parts using a Ti-based alloy reinforced with ceramic nanoparticles via additive manufacturing. This advance is geared for use in special applications in sectors such as aeronautics, aerospace, and industrial equipment, among others.
Ceit-IK4’s role is to focus on manufacturing the titanium-based alloy reinforced with ceramic nanoparticles. Two routes will be followed. The first is to develop a gas atomization system that can directly manufacture the mixed metal powder. The second is to use a titanium cylindrical bar (preform) that has the nanoparticles embedded in its interior, where this bar is subsequently converted into powder via electrode induction melting gas atomization.
