Thanks to this solution, it will not be necessary to stop the machines to check blade wear
Ceit-IK4, Tecnun and Lantier Solutions have developed a system for monitoring wear in the doctor blades on rollers in papermaking machines. The system is patented and constitutes an innovation in this type of machinery as it makes it possible to monitor remotely the amount of wear on the doctor blades in the rollers in the machinery. Remote monitoring can be done by office staff at the paper mill or the supplier, freeing operators from the task of checking the status of the papermaking machines and the degree of roller wear in-situ.
Thanks to this solution, it will not be necessary to stop the machines to check blade wear and maintenance will be based on the state of the blade, which will decrease costs by optimizing their service life and tracking the number of blades used.
The Smerald project, undertaken by Ceit-IK4, Tecnun and papermaking technology company Lantier Solutions (located in the neighboring city of Tolosa), offers a solution to problems in monitoring through a system consisting of four components: low cost sensors based on standard technology, a wireless sensor reader, a storage device and control software that is connected to the storage device via a communication bus. This system is completely scalable to the size of the machine being monitored.
