The International Meeting on New Sensing Technologies and Methods for Air-Pollution Monitoring was part of the COST action framework EuNetAir
CEIT-IK4 researcher Gemma García Mandayo was invited to speak at the EuNetAir International Meeting on New Sensing Technologies and Methods for Air-Pollution Monitoring.
The workshop was held this past October at the headquarters of the European Environmental Agency in Copenhagen under the framework COST action TD1105 EuNetAir.
CEIT-IK4's contribution to the meeting was the talk titled "System to control indoor air quality in energy efficient buildings". The talk was based on the INTASENSE project, which is developing low-cost miniaturized sensors for controlling environmental pollution.
The workshop not only dealt with the topic of sensors; it also brought together experts from a number of fields that deal with environmental pollution in some way: standards and legislation, environmental sustainability, measurement standards, pollution monitoring systems, the impact of pollution on human health, etc.
The main idea of the workshop, and the COST actions more generally, is to promote communication between the various stakeholders. The more specific aim of the workshop is to reduce air pollution and the adverse effects it has on health.
The activities that reach this aim will be integrated in the development of smart cities, where carbon dioxide emissions will be reduced in an environment of sustainable development.
