Intelligent systems for industry 4.0

Our added value

Multidisciplinary researchers to develop the factory of the future. Our staff, with extensive experience in both ICT technologies and Materials and Manufacturing, develop solutions based on monitoring systems in industrial applications.

For this, it is carried out from the design of intelligent systems and components (which detect changes in physical variables, process and transmit data to improve the process) to the development of intelligent and automatic systems for the guidance of operators and monitoring / industrial automation. , through the development and implementation of new non-destructive techniques sensitive to the microstructure of the steel that make it possible to carry out quality control.

Industry 4.0. was born as a result of applying the digitization of production processes in factories through sensors and information systems that transform production processes and make them more efficient. This qualitative leap is assumed in its entirety by this group by integrating within it experts in monitoring, manufacturing and non-destructive techniques that guarantee excellent quality.

Our research lines

We are experts in monitoring:

  • Development and use of wireless sensor networks.

  • Cyber-physical systems.

  • Human-machine interfaces.

  • Smart ad-hoc component design.

  • Data analysis (big data).

  • Cloud Computing.

  • Cybersecurity.

We carry out non-destructive tests (NDT), based on electromagnetic measurements, for quality control of products or production processes in aspects such as:

  • Characterization of metallic materials.

  • Characterization of the microstructure of different types of steel.

  • Estimation of mechanical properties such as hardness, elastic limit or tensile strength.

  • Analyze the quality of heat treatments. Characterize the surface hardness and depth of the hardened layer.

  • Obtain information on residual stresses.

  • Caracterizar quemas de rectificado.

  • Characterize grinding burns.

  • Detect defects such as cracks or inclusions.

  • Classification of alloys.

  • Measurement of coating thickness.

Vision and Robotics applied to everyday processes:

  • Augmented reality.

  • Industrial vision.

  • Automation and robotics.
